Privatisation of our NHS is being carried out by stealth. This event is to raise the alarm that unless we act we will soon have an insurance based US-style healthcare system.
The debate over whether we should be concerned about private companies operating in the NHS continues. Many people say that as long as their care is free at the point of need they don’t mind who delivers it.
Dr Bob Gill, a working GP, campaigner and documentary film maker will be our first speaker. He is the man who produced the film The Great NHS Heist. Dr Gill will speak about the privatisation of our NHS and why we need to oppose it. His talk will be a wake up call for all who think no government would ever get rid of the NHS.
Dr Michael Huggett, lecturer and mental health nurse is our second speaker. He will be discussing how mental health treatment decisions are being heavily influenced by what is profitable. And, how this is detrimemental to patients’ recovery.
We will take a short break after both speakers, after which there will be a Q&A session.
